It has become official today, that the left back of Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, Nikolaj Markussen, will continue his career in Telekom Veszprém from July 2020. Nikolaj answered some of our questions about his signing.

You are going to play in Veszprém from the summer of 2020. Why did you decide to continue your career at the Hungarian record champion?

Because for me, Veszprém is one of the biggest Club in Europe and I played here as a guest many times, and I have been amazed by the home crowd. I cannot wait to call it my home and feel the atmosphere week by week.

Have you ever played in Veszprém Arena? If so, what kind of experiences do you have?

I have played here three or four times already, and every time it has been amazing. Unfortunately, I cannot remember if I ever won here. The home crowd is probably the best in Europe, and if not, they are definitely in the top.

What is your proudest moment in your career so far?

I think it has to be winning the World championship with Denmark last year, in Denmark, which was really special. Also, winning the European championship back in 2012. Playing in the Champions League final with Atletico Madrid was also a big moment.

What kind of a player do you consider yourself, and how can you help the team?

I am a big guy and I can shoot, but I still have a good connection with the line players. I think I can both do my own thing and still put my teammates in good chances. I am of course a bit taller than most of the guys, so I have the opportunity to shoot, and play with my teammates.

What are your goals with Veszprém?

The goal is always to win. When you have a strong team like Veszprém, the goal is always to go to Final4. If you are there, you do not want to play for the third place. You want to win every game, and I think, that with a team like this, it is possible.

Last question: What is your message to the Veszprém Fans?

I cannot wait to call Veszprém my home. This home court, you guys, is amazing and I cannot wait to be here.
