From the very first moment on Kielce made it clear that they need the two points very badly, after losing in Bucharest last week. Mateusz Kornecki performed many excellent saves, and his teammates were super effective in attack too. Telekom Veszprém were struggling to catch up with Kielce, Momir Ilic had his first time-out in the 11th minute. The Serbian coach also brought on Lauge and Nenadic, switched to open set defense, but Veszprém couldn’t get any closer to its opponent. In the dying minutes of the first half Karalek got a red card for hitting Nenadic, Corrales made some important saves, but still Kielce had a 5 goal lead at half time.
The second half brought no change, Kielce were dominating still, and Momir Ilic had to gather his players in the 37th minute. Only a minute later, following a penalty by Bjorn Gudjonsson, Kielce had a 7 goal lead, the game seemed to be over. Petar Nenadic and Rodrigo Corrales were causing many problems for the home team, but their performance wasn’t enough to catch up with Kielce. Veszprém attacking wasn’t as dynamic and creative it was a week ago, and this way the home team deservedly won 32-29.

Good evening everybody! First of all congratulations to Kielce for the victory and to Talant also. They played a good game and we didn’t. We made a lot of mistakes, first how we start in defense, and after also in attack without movements and with standing handball. You cannot play this way against Kielce. Lot of turnovers, lot of technical mistakes, we had some chances, but we couldn’t turn the game around, because of these mistakes.
I would like to congratulate to Rodri because he played a good game.
Rodrigo Corrales
First of all congratulations to the Kielce team for the victory. The coaches have described the game perfectly and I would only like to add that we are coming from a hard year when we played without supporters and now it is great to have them back. In my opinion last week we got help from our supporters and now probably Kielce got the same. I agree with Momo, that we need to be better and start the games better. Last week we made a comeback, now it was not possible beacuse Kielce played well. They managed the game well, and feel the energy from their fans.

Congratulations to my team! We played one of the best teams in the world, I have a lot of respect for Veszprém and Momir Ilic too, and I wish them all the best for the future! Special thanks to our supporters too, they were amazing, they helped us a lot in difficult moments. Also, congratulations to Rodrigo and Mateusz too, they both played really well. I’m happy with the victory, now it’s time to rest a little bit and then we go on.
Mateusz Kornecki
Congratulations to Veszprém, we played a super match! I would like to say thank you to our fans for the support, it was the first time since Covid that they were here with us. The first half was excellent, but then Rodrigo came on and caused us some trouble. Ten minutes before the end we had a three goal lead that we could keep until the end, I’m happy with the two points and I hope to win in Ukraine too.
