In the 17th Round of the K&H League Telekom Veszprém faced MOL-Tatabánya KC away. The first attack was for Tatabánya and the first goal was scored by a former BFKA player, Andrej Pergel. The first 5 minutes was a goal by goal game, it was 3-3 in the fifth min. Veszprém took the lead first time by Dragan Pechmalbec, it was 3-4. There were a lot of mistakes, lost balls on both sides in this period. So Tatabánya took the lead from the 10th minute, it was 7-6 in the 15th, when Momir Ilic took timeout and made some changes. Veszprém’s game seemed to be faster, Cupara saved a few balls and it was 8-10 to Veszprém. Tatabánya took his timeout and egalized the game 10-10. At the end of the half Veszprém forced the high tempo game and with Peter Lukacs’ 7m goal it was 3 for Veszprém in the half. The result was 12-15.

The second half started with a Dragan Pechmalbec’s goal. Veszprém changed the wings, Gasper Marguc and Manuel Strlek stepped onto the court for the second half. Veszprém needed only 4 minutes to doubelize the lead 3 to 6. At 13-20 Tatabánya’s coach took his second timeout. After Veszprém played an opened defence, 5-1 and Tatabánya was better in attack in this period, Momir Ilic took his second timeout at 20-23. We can say, it was a wavy game for Veszprém, lot of mistakes and in a few period there were slow game. The final result was: 27-28.

Coaches statements

Csaba Tombor: First of all congrats to Veszprém they are a really good team. We could see in the first half on which tempo they can push the game. I think in 6-0 defence we could force them to make a few mistakes. In the begining of the second half Veszprém took the lead by 5-6 goals, but after we could come back. With our mentality and discipline we played and showed a great performance tonight.

Momir Ilic: Congrats to my players for the victory. We always play tough and close games against Tatabánya. We started to play slow. I wasn’t satisfied with this and with the match. We made many technical mistakes. I think If we are focusing until the end there wouldn’t be a problem. I hope everything will be okay for the future.

From inside the game

Mateo Maras: First of all congrats Veszprém for the victory, I think, we died for each other tonight. We made a lot of mistakes, but in the most important things, for example goalkeeper’s game we were good.

Péter Lukács: I would like to congrats to Tatabánya, they were amazing during the whole game. We took the lead by 5-6 goals in the begining of the second half, but they could get back to the game. I wish all the best to them for the future.
