Momir Ilic and Péter Gulyás signed a 2+1 year contract with Telekom Veszprém in June 2021. The management has decided not to extend the contracts expiring at the end of the season, so two of our former key players will leave their positions as head coach and coach of Veszprém. Péter Gulyás will play a role in the Veszprém Handball Academy program in the future.

Momir and Péter took over the bench from David Davis in the 2021/22 season, winning 3 Hungarian Cups, two national championships, two SEHA Leagues, and a SEHA League friendly four-tournament with the team over three years. In 2022, they reached the Final4 in Cologne, finishing fourth behind Barcelona, Kielce, and Kiel.

Dr. Csaba Bartha: I have not worked with the two former excellent players either during their playing careers or in the past three years of their coaching careers. Until now, I have known them as two outstanding players, but I would like to add from my recent experience that they are also two fantastic individuals with many good personal qualities. It is always difficult for a leader to make such a decision, but in the current situation, we had to do this in the best interest of the club. As I have emphasized before, in the future, regarding the formation of the player roster and the coaching staff, we need to do this much earlier, in accordance with the specific regulations of handball. This is in the best interest of both the club and the individuals involved.

We would like to thank Momo and Gulyi for the victorious moments and everything they have done for our club! We wish them much success in the future!

It was a very big honor to work for such a prestigious club like Veszprém, and also an opportunity to win many titles and trophies. Of course, a big thanks to the players during these three years. Without them, we couldn’t have reached these goals. And in the end, we want to say goodbye to our fans and also express our appreciation for their big support during these years and all TOGETHER we will remain in the history of the CLUB.
