Telekom Veszprém will start the EHF Champions League campaign on Wednesday in France, against HBC Nantes. We asked our head coach and players about the opening of the CL season.

David Davis: I am 100% sure that it will be a tough game. Nantes has a really good defense, a very good head coach and quality players individually. We will start the CL with a complicated first game. We have been waiting for this moment, to start the Champions League, and the players all have positive energy and power. It is going to be a very nice game.

Máté Lékai: Finally the Champions League will start! I hope that our tests will come out negative from this morning, and we can start the whole campaign. We will start the competition against a great team, and in away, but our goal is obviously to win. So far, we do not know much about Nantes, as they did not start the championship yet. From this point of view, we might have a slight advantage. The French side has a lot of European champion Spaniards in their roster, so I expect a serious game. To reach our goal in the group, we must win in France.

Gasper Marguc: We know that they are a good team. We expect a tough game. I think everyone is excited to play the first Champions League game of the season. I hope that everything will be okay and we can play the season as normal as possible, and of course that we will be successful.

Manuel Strlek: It will be a really hard game. We are aware that Nantes is a really good team. We will be watching games in the upcoming days. It will be difficult because if I remember correctly, they did not play friendly games, because of the pandemic. We will see. For them, it will be the start of the season, but we have already played a few games in the Hungarian league and in the SEHA League. This will be a big plus for us. If we play on our level, we have a great chance to win in France.
