Our Club can officially confirm that the right back of MOL-Pick Szeged, Jorge Maqueda will strengthen Telekom Veszprém from the upcoming season. The Spanish world champions signed a two-year contract with the „Építők”.

 

Jorge was born on 15 March 1988 in Toledo. He started his professional career in Barcelona, with which he won a Spanish championship title, a Spanish Cup and Super Cup, but then he left to CB Alcobendas in 2007. From here he signed with BM Aragón in 2009, and after just two years he went abroad to try himself. He spent three years in HBC Nantes, but his biggest successes were yet to come, when he signed with HC Vardar in 2015. Here he won three Macedonian championship titles and Macedonian Cups, and two SEHA – Gazprom League titles. In 2017, he won the VELUX EHF Champions League. He then went to MOL-Pick Szeged in 2018, with whom he win the Hungarian championship and the Hungarian Cup, once each.

 

He is the member of the Spanish national team since 2006, and he won a European championship gold, silver and bronze, and a World championship bronze and gold. The latter, he achieved on home court in 2013. In the recently finished EURO 2020, he was nominated to the All-Star team on right back position.
