On the fourteenth matchday of the Machineseeker EHF Champions League 2022/23 campaign, our team played away against Paris Saint-Germain. Our team started the match, and we took the lead with Pechmalbec’s goal immediately, right after that we received a ball in defence and Strlek scored, thus we had a two-goal lead. We were not happy for a long time, as the home team managed to equalize with two quick goals (3rd minute 2-2). In the continuation, we played dynamically and with Marguc's first goal we led by four (9th minute 4-8). The timeout came from Raul Gonzalez, which did not help the French team, the difference with Strlek and Pechmalbec's goals was already six. At the half of the half time, we managed to lead 15-7 with another Marguc goal. After that, PSG began to find itself, thus they managed to get closer (21st minute 12-18). Momir Ilic asked for timeout. For the last five minutes, we turned with a six-goal advantage, but the French managed to work down one more goal until the break, so we could wait the second half from 19-24.

The home team started better the second part of the game, after Syprzak and Prandi scored, they came closer to three goals (33rd minute 21-24). Moreover, Green also saved some balls, and the goals come in attack, thus they could come closer to one goal. In the 38th minute, Raul Gonzalez’s team could equalize. A quarter of an hour before the end of the game, PSG took the lead, and shortly afterwards had two goal advantage (45th minute 30-28). Turning to the last ten minutes, the scissors opened between the two teams, the French team lead by four. Momir Ilic asked for timeout, which had the result, and after Marguc scored a goal in the 55th minute, we came back to one goal. Not long after, Lauge scored a goal, with which we managed to equalize (57th minute, 34-34). We waited for the last minute with a one-goal deficit, but we made mistakes in attack, which Paris took advantage of, so we lost 37-35 in our last group match. It has also become certain that we will finish third in our group and meet Szeged in the round of 16.

Raul Gonzalez: It is hard to say anything, we will continue the Champions League from first place. I think we can be satisfied and happy. We started badly, but I am very proud that we were able to come back into the match.

Momir Ilic: First of all, I congratulate Paris for the victory, we played great in the first half, then we started to make mistakes, especially in attack. We led with 9 goals in the first half, but after that we missed a lot of shots. They could come closer by 5 goals in 6 minutes.

Dominik Máthé: First of all, I congratulate Veszprém for the first half, they surprised us and were better in this part of the game. In the second half, thanks to our goalkeeper, we were able to turn things around, a big thank you to him.

Manuel Strlek: We played great for 30 minutes, defended well and were able to run from that, then we made more and more mistakes.
