Two days after the Champions League game, Telekom Veszprém hosted Csurgó in Veszprém Aréna. The guests led the first attack, they scored, but Pechmalbec answered back. On the wings this time Vailupau and Elísson started, the teammates gave them many assists. For the middle of the half Építők built a big advantage (13-7). The guests had a good seria and came back by 4 goals, so Ilic had to call a timeout. Nilsson fought a powerplay and a penalty, that was scored by Yahia. In the second half Építők attacked first, but Marguc missed, then Csurgó scored. Another Pechmalbec’s goal meant the 10 goals difference at the beginning of the second half (35. min 26-16). Corrales kept his good performance, after his save Strlek scored an easy fastbreak goal. Marguc scored an empty net goal in powerplay and raised the lead to 14 goals. Having a safe advantage Ilic tried many variations in attack and the team scored a lot of goals (47. min 35-21). Ligetvári scored a nice goal, Ilic called a timeout, then Nilsson reached the 40th home goal (40-24). In the endgame the only question was the difference. At the end Veszprém made a confident victory by 16 goals.

Norbert Baranyai: We came to this match after a week's break, but I still expected more from my team. Unfortunately, we couldn't play a quick handball, we made a lot of mistakes and threw the balls away. Veszprém took advantage of these mistakes and they deserved to win. From now on, we will concentrate on Gyöngyös.

Momir Ilic: First of all, I would like to congratulate to my players for taking this match seriously as I asked. I am happy with the way we played today, as we did not have much time to prepare for this game. The guys deserved to get a rest day tomorrow. But then we are preparing for the second leg against Zagreb. I wish Csurgó all the best in the future.

Erik Szeitl: Veszprém made a well-deserved victory. We made a lot of mistakes in the beginning of the game, and we had a big disadvantage. For the second half we became better, but still made bad mistakes. In the future we have to be better, and we prepare ourselves against Gyöngyös.

Patrik Ligetvári: We can be satisfied with this game. We realized everything what our coach asked from us. It was a perfect preparation for the upcoming Champions League game.
