„We must not slow down”

− After a few relatively weaker performances in the recent past, how did you gather the strength to beat Motor?

− The biggest difference was the presence of our fans. They were disappointed with our recent results, understandably so; but we are grateful for the fact that we can always count on them. We started the game a bit slow, but with the support of our fans we were able to turn the match around. Of course, we were also very disappointed with ourselves for losing against Dinamo and Motor. We were trying hard to perform well, but for some reason things just didn’t seem to workout in our favour.

− If I understand correctly, you gained the needed energy from the disappointment?

− Yes, absolutely. The players, the coaches and the staff were all feeling discontented. For example, we prepared a lot against Motor, we analyzed the opponent and everybody tried to perform at their best, but we lost nonetheless. Right before the home game, it was declared that we cannot disappoint our fans, who were justifiably angry with our recent results. I hope we won the fans’ trust back with the victory against Motor, but of course I know that we still have a long way to go.

− Momo said, that the slow start against Motor is worrying and it needs correction. What do you think is the reason behind the occasional slow starts to your matches?

− It’s a difficult question. We are all very much aware of our responsibility, we know how much Telekom Veszprém means to the fans, to the city, even the whole country. This kind of pressure gains weight on our shoulders because this club is close to our hearts and it means a lot us as well. We want to win every single one of our matches and we want to make our fans happy and proud. We aim to learn from our losses, but finding new ways to improve after victories is just as important.

− The next challenge is the visiting Dinamo Bucharest. What are your expectations for Thursday?

− This match will be completely different to the one in Bucharest and hopefully the final score will be different as well. We all want to win in front of our fans and the loss in Bucharest serves as extra motivation. However, it will definitely be a tough match, there are no easy games in the Champions League. It’s imperative that we win on Thursday and naturally, we are expecting our fans’ support this time as well! With a victory on Thursday, we would have 12 points and we could look forward to the upcoming matches from a position of strength.

− What will be the key to victory on Thursday?

− It’s vital that we play our own game, in our own rhythm. Unfortunately in Bucharest, they were able to slow us down to their own tempo and this was our main downfall. We will have to force our quick, creative play-style onto Bucharest and then we’ll see who comes out on top.
