In the 9th round of the K&H League, our team will play away against Szeged in the first derby of the season. The match will be broadcast live by M4 Sport.

A new era began in Szeged from this summer. At the beginning of the season, head coach Michael Apelgren started working, who moved from Sävehof to Szeged after four years. One of the assistant coaches of the new trainer was the former winger of the club, fellow Swede Jonas Källman, and the other was Krisztián Kárpáti, who managed the team last year. In addition to the transformation of the staff, the player squad also underwent significant changes, in addition to five arrivals, the team has seven departures. Tobias Thulin, Magnus Rød and even Lazar Kukic strengthens the list of new players. In addition to Zoltán Szita, for example, Dean Bombac, Miguel Martins and Matej Gaber signed with another club. Despite the big "comings and goings", Szeged started the season well, as it lost only one of its first 10 matches, the away CL game against Barca, and that too by only one goal. During this time, however, they were able to win against Magdeburg, Nantes and Tatabánya at home, and they also took the two points from Zagreb. After that a three-game losing streak followed. They lost away against Aalborg and Csurgó, as well as against Kolstad in the Pick Arena. Since then, they won the three matches played, thanks to which they are currently in 3rd place in their Champions’ League group, and in 2nd position in the Hungarian league.

Before the international break, our team defeated Gyöngyös in the domestic championship, while in the Champions League we took home the two points from Plock. Thanks to the successes, we lead the table in both competition series.

In the 2023/24 league season, we met Szeged 7 times - 2 times in the regular season of the K&H League, 2 times in the round of 16 of the Champions League, 1 time in the final of the Hungarian Cup and 2 times in the championship final - and all 7 times we left the field as winners.
