In the first home match of the year, in the 15th round of the K&H League, our team hosted Balatonfüred KSE. Our head coach made one change compared to the midweek squad: Végh came in instead of Janowszky. At the beginning of the match, Xavi Pascual sent the following team to the field: Corrales, Descat, Casado, Ligetvári, Pechmalbec, Sandell and Marguc. In attack, Kosorotov came in instead of our Hungarian left back. The beginning of the match brought a tight and even game, until the 6th minute neither side led by more than one. Then Marguc scored from a fast break, which changed the score to 5-3. After Pechmalbec was sent off, Fabregas came in to attack and scored almost immediately, thus increasing our advantage to three goals (10th minute, 8-5). Corrales showed a great performance in the goal and our defence was also tight, so we managed to double the difference in the 19th minute. Thus, the timeout came from the head coach of Balatonfüred, after which Vailupau and Hoffmann also came on, and shortly afterwards Pechmalbec replaced Fabregas. Turning to the crunch time of the first half, our Belarusian winger also scored his first goal, increasing our lead to eight goals (26th minute, 19-11). The halftime score of 22-14 was set by Kosorotov, who scored 7 goals in the first half.

After the break, we started with our starting line-up, with one exception, Végh was on the pitch instead of Marguc. Xavi Pascual's team carried their good form into the beginning of the second half and quickly increased our lead to ten goals (33rd minute, 25-15). After a tight ten minutes, our head coach made three substitutions, Fabregas, Végh and Jensen came on, and they all repaid the trust and immediately showed themselves with a goal or a save (43rd minute, 35-21). For the last quarter of an hour of the match, Kosorotov and Sandell were given a little rest, and Ligetvári and Vailupau came in to replace them. We gradually increased our lead after that and after Végh's second goal, the result was 41-23. In the final minutes of the match, the difference between the two teams was already twenty (56th minute, 44-24). Finally, we achieved a 47-24 victory in our first home match of 2025, thanks to which we continue to lead the Hungarian championship.

Ákos Kis: I said this in the locker room and on TV before the match; we have two options, either play at the speed we will have after the round against Szeged or try to pick up the rhythm of Veszprém and perform at that speed. This is what happened now, we ran a lot, we had good attacks and plays sometimes. But, of course, a lot of mistakes slipped into this speed. We suffered a heavy defeat from a team who has the chance to win the CL, that's not a shame. For us, the real part will start with the round after Szeged. I wish Veszprém good luck!

Xavi Pascual: Thank you to Balatonfüred for today's game! I think it wasn't easy to play against us today, we put a lot of energy to this match. We had a few injuries before the game, so some of the players I sent onto the field played in different positions, but everyone gave it their all. I'm proud of them! Our defence was great, we could run, after a while it was easy, because after 15 minutes we were leading by 6-7 goals. The young players were able to help us, Patrik was also very good. I'm proud of him, because he doesn't always get a chance in attack, but when he does, he appreciates it. But, for example, there's the case of Dragan or Nikola, who maybe people don't appreciate very much, which is a huge mistake, because they do a great job.

Balázs Németh: First of all, I congratulate Veszprém for the victory. I can join Ákos in saying that we can pick up a speed like Veszprém, this brings with it technical errors, we have to improve on these, we have to reduce this and then we can be successful.

Patrik Ligetvári: The team showed what kind of attitude they can play with, I think. Maybe this will be a benchmark that we always try to surpass. We tried to decide the match in the first half, but we didn’t succeed, because Füred is a very good team. Thank you very much for this match, and I wish them much success in the future!
