In the last home match of the year, in the 12th round of the K&H League, our team played against Carbonex-Komló. Compared to the midweek squad, Xavi Pascual made one change, instead of Remili, Végh came in. And in the match, our head coach voted sent the following team to the court: Jensen, Hoffmann, Pálmarsson, Casado, Fabregas, Sandell and Marguc. In defence, Ligetvári came in instead of our Icelandic left back. We left our opponent standing in the first minutes, after Casado's goal it was already 5-0 on the scoreboard in the 5th minute. Thus, László György called a time-out. After the interruption of the game, the difference seemed to stabilize, until the 15th minute, when the difference increased to seven goals after Casado's fifth goal. At that time, Pechmalbec, Kosorotov and Végh were already on the field. We turned in the last ten minutes of the first half with a 16-9 lead. Then Vailupau came in, who scored with his first touch of the ball, increasing our advantage to eight goals. Komló was able to work off three of these deficit until the break, so we could expect the continuation from 19-14.

We started the second half with the lineup of Jensen, Hoffmann, Pálmarsson, Grahovac, Fabregas, Sandell, Végh. In attack, Cindric came in instead of his compatriot. Jensen made several saves at the beginning of the half, which we took advantage of up front and after Végh's first goal we restored our eight-goal lead (34th minute, 23-15). Fabregas scored his third goal in the next attack, which was also his 300th goal in the Veszprém jersey. The difference did not change significantly in the next part of the match, after Marguc's penalty the score was 28-20, after which our head coach made several substitutions. Kosorotov, Pechmalbec and Vailupau came in attack, and Ligetvári in defence. After Kosorotov's goal in the 54th minute, we led by ten goals for the first time of the game. We were able to further increase the difference in the end, so we finally said goodbye to Veszprém Arena in 2024 with a 37-25 victory.

Coaches

László György: Congratulations to Veszprém on their victory, they deserved to win today's match. If I divide it into two halves, we lost the first by 5 goals and the second by 7, but I believe we can't be disappointed, as we lost to a great team. We had good solutions, both in defence and in attack. We often created the situation, but unfortunately, we were outplayed by the goalkeeper. I believe my team deserves praise, we performed well today. I wish Veszprém much success in the future.

Xavi Pascual: We started the match very well, and we were able to build a significant lead early in the game. The match allowed us to give playing time to players like the younger ones or Lukas, who was able to play for 40 minutes today. The most important thing is that we secured the two points, and of course, I am proud of my team.

Players

Gergő Gulyás: Congratulations to the Veszprém team on their victory, we were of course aware that we were not the favourites of the match. We came here to give our best and achieve our own goals. We made some mistakes, but despite that, I believe we managed to accomplish what we wanted. I was satisfied with the team's performance.

Lukas Sandell: Today's match was a really good one. We defended well, which allowed us to run and create advantages. We managed to get back into the rhythm, so after my injury, it was great to be back on the court.
