At the request of our head coach, Xavi Pascual, we are signing our former player, Aron Pálmarsson, with immediate effect. The Icelandic manager has committed himself until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The name of Aron Pálmarsson may sound familiar to everyone, as the Icelandic left back already strengthened our team for two seasons between 2015 and 2017. From there, in 2017, he transferred to Barcelona managed by Xavi Pascual, where he spent four seasons. During this time, he won the Spanish Championship and the Spanish Cup 4 times, as well as lifting the Champions League trophy once. In 2021, he was looking for a new challenge, which he found in Aalborg. He signed a three-year contract with the Danes, but after two years, with two Danish Super Cups and a Danish Cup in his pocket, he returned to his parent club, Iceland's FH Hafnarfjarðar. After more than a year, he returns to Veszprém at the request of Xavi Pascual.

As I have already clearly stated in my previous statements, we need a player in the back positions. Unfortunately, the events of Thursday confirm this point of view even more.

I have to start my thoughts by saying that three key players (Andreas Nilsson, Kentin Mahé és Yahia Omar) left the team at the end of last season, and despite this, the club announced the signing of only one new player for this season, Nikola Grahovac - who is a very good pivot. Luka Cindric was already signed at the beginning of this season at the request of our new head coach. If we only take the numbers as a basis, it is already clear that we really need a player who can be deployed in the back positions. Furthermore, we have to consider the specialty of the season, that the summer preparation was almost entirely omitted due to the Olympic Games. Of course, the name of Gergő Fazekas came up first, since he is our player, but unfortunately his loan contract does not include a recall option, and we could only expect him in the CL after the group stage.
