Luka Cindric signed a 2+2-year contract with our club, who will join our team in the summer of 2024.

The Croatian handball player was born on 5 July 1993 in Ogulin. The 30-year-old center back began to spread his wings in HRK Karlovac, where he showed his talent in his first season, scoring 243 goals in 33 matches. It is no wonder that after a year and a half, he transferred to RK Metalurg Skopje, where he was able to make his debut in the Champions League. In the summer of 2015, he signed with RK Vardar Skopje, also from North Macedonia, where he spent three seasons. The three years he spent here were one of the most successful periods for the 182 cm tall playmaker, as he and his team won the league title and the cup in all three seasons. In addition to these, he won the SEHA-league twice, as well as the Champions League trophy in 2017. This year, the European Handball Federation chose Luka Cindric as the player of the season. After the period in Skopje, he moved to Poland, to Kielce, where he spent only one year, but he can still call himself a Polish champion and cup winner. Then came another more successful period, this time with Barca. Between 2019 and 2023, he won the Spanish league and cup four times. In 2021, he was able to ascend to the throne of Europe again, as he also won the CL with the Catalans and thanks to his performance, he was included in the EHF's team of the year as the best center back. And in the following season, they also defended their title in the most prestigious European cup series, so he joined Dinamo Bucuresti as a three-time Champions League winner. He spent one season in Romania, during which time he won a championship and a cup, and reached the final four of the Europa League, where he finished in fourth place with his team. In the summer of 2024, he will move to the Veszprém Handball Club, where he can work under Xavi Pascual again after Barcelona and Bucharest.

Cindric made his debut in the Croatian national team in 2014, where he was able to be a key player for his country in several matches. With the national team, he won a bronze medal in 2016 and a silver medal in 2020 at the European Championships.

"Luka Cindric is a classy and experienced handball player in center back position, which he has proven several times also in the Champions League. After we agreed with Xavi Pascual, it became clear that in order to implement his game philosophy, we will need one more player who can be deployed in the interior positions. Therefore, in line with the joint professional concept of the head coach and the sports director, the management decided to sign the Croatian playmaker. We were aware that Luka had had injuries in the past, so before his signing he underwent a comprehensive medical examination, where the doctors found everything to be fine. We are sure that Luka Cindric will be a great help and a suitable reinforcement, with his arrival the 2024/25 squad is almost complete." - said Dr. Csaba Bartha, CEO of our club.
