In front of 1500 spectators we were starting the final of MOL Cup against Mol Tatabánya KC. According to Tatabánya’s victory against Zagreb, Tatabánya had took place in the final. And after Veszprém defeated Orlen Wisla Plock in the semi-final a hungarian final have been organized between the two hungarian teams in the Tatabánya Multifuntctional Arena.
For the third place match Orlen Wisla Plock and PPD Zagreb played against each other. Plock took a 4-6 goals lead and held it till the end. PPD Zagreb – Orlen Wisla Plock 27-31. So the third is Orlen Wisla Plock, fourth place: PPD Zagreb.
About the game...
We started with the Elísson, Elderaa, Nilsson, Nenadic, Yahia, Vailupau team. Adrián Sipos in change and Vladimir Cupara in the goal. In the first 10 minutes we could see a fully chaotic game, with a lot of mistakes, after ten minutes Veszprém took the lead (2-6). After Sipos’s 2 min susspension we made a few mistakes so Tatabánya was getting closer, 2 goals was the disparity. Cupara made a good job in the goal, had some brilliant saves. Helped his team a lot.
After 15 minutes Momir Ilic made some changes as usual, Péter Lukács, Kentin Mahé, Zorán Ilic, Dragan Pechmalbec, Patrik Ligetvári stepped onto the court. Veszprém held his 2 goals lead, in the Tatabánya’s goal Márton Székely showed a good performance, also made some brilliant saves. In the 23th minute Kentin Mahé made a good action against Tatabánya defence, in the next second in that situation Mateo Maras and Kentin Mahé also got a red card. Tatabánya parlayed some of our mistakes and scored twice in empty goals. They equalized, then Momir Ilic took the time out. The half was 15-15.
We started the second half with the Vailupau, Yahia, Nilsson, Elderaa, Strlek, Sipos (change), Nenadic team. We parlayed a few of Tatabánya’s mistakes so we took 3 goals lead. Csaba Tombor took his first timeout. According to Gábor Ancsin’s goals Tatabánya was getting closer, that was 22-26 to Veszprém. The end of the half Tatabánya made a few mistakes in attack so we could make some fast break goals. 29-33 for Veszprém, so we won the Mol Cup.
